Parrotlets are the small birds which are at their young stages of life. Their bodies are small with an average length of about six inches. Parrotlets will weigh on averagely 28 grams when they are hatched. Thes birds are kept in the homes by many people. People are making sure that they get the chance to own a parrot. Appetite for food helps the birds in maintaining their antique and playful nature. Since parrots are nutcrackers they love nuts which helps them exercise their beaks and make them strong. Mature parrots feed less as they require little amount of energy as compared to the young parrotlets which require quite some energy for growth. An food that has very high amount of sugar content should not be given to the parrots. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.
Every pet bird needs the attention of their owner. Parrotlets require very less attention by their owners as they are capable of playing by themselves. Fully grown parrots require around ten minutes attention from the owner for training. Make sure you put enough play materials in the cages of the parrotlets for them to use them when they want to play. These birds do well by themselves, and so they don’t need company. They can only feel comfortable in the company of their owners and other parrots. Their houses should be made separate to that of other pets.
The birds can easily get aggressive when they are provoked. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur. Avoid allowing kids to disturb the parrots because they can harm them However the birds are friendly depending on the kind of interaction one has with them.
